From 22nd to 24th February, several projects of the Network of Storytelling Sites and Towns will take place in the city of Bratislava, capital of Slovakia. These conferences are organised through the European Network of Storytelling Sites and Places project managed by the SLIJ and funded by the European Executive Agency for Education and Culture (EACEA). The host partner of this meeting is the Comenius University.
The programme of these working days included the presentation of the database Storytelling Sites and Towns, which has been developed during the implementation of the European project of the same name and coordinated by the Library of Guadalajara, led by its director Jorge Gómez. This document contains information on entities, associations, places, landscapes and characters in Europe related to oral storytelling. The network's website will also be presented. In addition, the Vice-Rector of the Comenius University, partner of the network, will receive the group of participants of this meeting.
On the evening of 23rd February, in the Faculty of Philosophy, the show "Il était una vez jeden utopická viaggio a történeteken keresztül em seis línguas" (Once upon a time, a utopian journey through stories in six languages) will be performed. This storytelling show was premiered at the Teatro Moderno in Guadalajara during the 31st edition of the Stroytelling Marathon. It was also performed at the headquarters of another project partner, the Maison du Conte (Chevilly-Larue, France) last autumn.
During the course of the workshop, European storytellers from Italy, Spain, Portugal and France are expected to hold meetings in their own languages with students from the Comenius University.
On the 24th, the conference will end with a working meeting of the partners of this European project, which is entering its final phase.
The European Network Storytelling Sites and Towns (ENSST), managed by the Seminario de Literatura Juvenil de Guadalajara, has as partners the Comenius University of Bratislava (Slovakia), Maison du Conte de Chevilly-Larue (France) and Fondazione per Leggere (Italy). In addition to these four partners, the project has the cooperation of the University of Alcalá de Henares (UAH), the State Public Library in Guadalajara and the Associazione La lettura Nonostante.
This project was born with the purpose of creating a network of places and cities that have a special relationship with oral storytelling in Europe.
