Creative Europe is a European Union programme which aims to boost the cultural and creative sectors by facilitating collaboration between artists, cultural and audiovisual professionals and organisations in the performing arts, fine arts, publishing, film, television, music, interdisciplinary arts, literature, heritage and the video games industry.
This programme finances projects with a European dimension, with the aim of promoting the competitiveness of the cultural and creative sector, while protecting Europe's cultural and linguistic diversity.

The goals of this European initiative are:
- Safeguard, develop and promote Europe's cultural and linguistic heritage and diversity.
- Enhance the competitiveness and economic potential of the cultural and creative sectors, in particular the audiovisual sector.
New features of Creative Europe include:
- Greater emphasis on transnational creation and innovation.
- Easier access to funding through higher co-financing rates (higher levels of Creative Europe contribution to project development).
- Emphasis on supporting cooperation at EU level to improve the competitiveness of the European audiovisual sector on a global level.
- Mobility scheme for artists and professionals.
- Actions targeted at the specific needs of the sector.
